West London housing scheme is part of wider 950-home Stanhope regeneration of historic site
Contractor Kier has won a £50m job to build 142 new homes for housing association Peabody at the former BBC Television Centre site in west London.
The affordable housing will be built in two new buildings called Macfarlane Place, which have been designed by Maccreanor Lavington Architects.
Developers Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo exchanged contracts last month with Peabody, which will manage the homes once they are built.
It is Kier’s first deal for Stanhope, the scheme’s development manager, with the firm understood to have beaten Wates and McLaren to the job.
Others working on the project include QS Core 5 along with M&E and structural engineer Arup.
Cantillon is currently on site tearing down the former BBC multi-storey car park on Wood Lane with Kier expected to move on site by March.
The new buildings will replace the car park, which is opposite the Westfield shopping centre, with completion set for 2024.
The job is part of the wider Television Centre development which will eventually have around 950 homes in total.
The scheme’s first phase has already seen the completion of 432 homes and new office buildings designed by AHMM and Morris & Company.
