Khan secures threefold increase in affordable homes on hotel scheme

Kensington Forum Hotel scheme

London mayor says talks with developers resulted in 62 affordable homes being delivered

The mayor of London has approved the redevelopment of a Richard Seifert-designed hotel in west London after securing a threefold increase in the number of affordable homes going into the mixed-use scheme.

Sadiq Khan had called in proposals from SimpsonHaugh to replace the 1970s Forum hotel in Kensington with a taller scheme featuring 749 bedrooms, 340 serviced apartments and an initial figure of 46 new homes – 20 of which would be affordable – last November.

The plans had previously been refused planning by Kensington and Chelsea council.
