Sinead Butters will join Karbon as chair in October

Butters will join the Newcastle-upon-Tyne-based landlord on 1 October, succeeding Alexis Cleveland who has completed her term.

Butters is currently the chief executive of Aspire, which is expected to merge with WHG in November. Butters will remain closely involved with the expanded organisation for a while to support the integration but will then depart.

Butters, who has worked in housing for more than 30 years, is also a former chair of the Placeshapers group of organisations. She is also currently chair of Black Country Housing Group. In 2015 Butters was awarded an MBE for services to housing.

Meanwhile, Rob Williamson is also joining Karbon’s board from October. Williamson is the chief executive of the Community Foundation North East.

Paul Fiddaman, chief executive of the Karbon Group, said: “We’re really pleased to have Sinead and Rob joining the Karbon Group board, both bringing a wealth of expertise and a shared commitment to achieving our mission”.

Karbon earlier this week reported a 48% drop in its annual completions as it focuses on meeting repairs demand.
