Nesil Caliskan is a former leader of Enfield Council
Barking MP Nesil Caliskan has been appointed minister of state for devolution, faith and communities.

Caliskhan, who has served as the MP for Barking since 2024, replaces Miatta Fahnbulleh who resigned from the government following Labour’s poor performance in the 7 May elections.
Caliskhan was the leader of Enfield Council from 2018 to 2024 and more recently has been a government whip.
She posted on social media it is an “honour” to accept the appointment as minister.
She wrote: ”Having been a council leader, I know how important councils are to transforming their local communities.
“I will work tirelessly to deliver the government’s agenda and will continue to represent my constituents in Barking & Dagenham”
