Canalside Middlewood Locks scheme has to date delivered 1,300 homes
Work on more than 900 homes in Salford is set to be begin after a funding deal agreed with Homes England’s National Housing Bank.
The bank has agreed a loan, reportedly for £14m, to a joint venture between Scarborough Group International and Metro Holdings for the latest phase of the £1bn Middlewood Locks regeneration project.

The latest funding will be used for site preparation and enabling works intended to speed up the delivery of up to 909 additional homes.
This includes design work to support the planning application for gateway 2 under the Building Safety Act. The scheme proposes 909 new homes across two further phases of residential ‘Brick Fields Yard’ and ‘Lockgate Wharf,’ with ground floor commercial and amenity space.
Including the latest provision of funding, a total of £84.2m has now been loaned in support of the various phases of Middlewood Locks contributing to the delivery of more than 1,300 completed new homes.
Middlewood Locks has seen the transformation of a formerly disused brownfield site encompassing the three large basins of the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canals.
