Andrew van Doorn was awarded an OBE for services to housing
The boss of the Housing Associations’ Charitable Trust (HACT), Andrew van Doorn, will step down in January 2027 after 23 years with the organisation.
HACT has credited van Doorn, who became chief executive in 2017, with helping to pioneer the UK Social Value Bank in 2014, a tool it said is now used by more than 60% of the sector to measure the impact of its work.
He also recently oversaw the launch of UK HIVE, a research, development and innovation vehicle for social housing, alongside 11 founding partners including Clarion Housing Group and Orbit.
In 2023, van Doorn was awarded an OBE for services to housing. He has served on sector panels, government advisory boards and national bodies.
He will start a new role as chair of Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust in February 2027 after serving as a non-executive director for the past four years.
Until then, he will work with the board of trustees to recruit his successor.
HACT is a social enterprise established by the housing association sector. It aims to work with the housing sector, government and communities to “develop and share innovative approaches to meeting changing needs”.
