Government yet to carry out ‘comprehensive assessment’ of MMC outcomes

Admission comes weeks after MPs warned housebuilding targets will be missed if MMC not fully exploited

The government has admitted it has not “comprehensively” assessed the cost, environmental or build time impact of using modern methods of construction to build new homes.

In a written answer to a question from Labour MP and opposition whip Colleen Fletcher, Kit Malthouse, housing minister, said research into “particular topics may include consideration of modern methods of construction (MMC), if relevant to the subject of the research”.
