‘The borders aren’t going to shut overnight,’ immigration minister says

The government has told construction firms EU workers will still be able to come to the UK following a no-deal Brexit – but said it is still consulting on permanent changes to the border regime after a transition period ends in 2021. 

In December, the Home Office published a white paper promising to scrap quotas for works visas issued when a when a new immigration system comes into play January 2021.
