The Sunderland-based landlord has also made internal promotions

Housing association Gentoo has made two senior appointments to its property investment team.

David Summers has joined as assistant director of planned investment and commercial, and Samantha Granger has been appointed assistant director of asset strategy and data.

Summers spent 29 years at Home Group, where he was head of safety and compliance. He will oversee asset investment and commercial work for the Sunderland-based landlord.

Gentoo’s property investment team

Granger joins Gentoo from Thirteen Group, where she was director of asset management. She has 14 years’ of experience in the housing sector and will oversee Gentoo’s asset strategy.

Summers said: “I’m delighted to join Gentoo during an exciting time for the organisation, leading unique projects such as Gentogether and ensuring our investment plan is delivered successfully to provide customers across Sunderland with improved, safe and decent homes.”

Granger said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Gentoo and to have the opportunity to lead the asset and sustainability strategy, working alongside a brilliant team to ensure our customers’ are living in comfortable, energy efficient homes.”

They will both work alongside Peter Akers, director of asset and sustainability, Marc Edwards, executive director of property and James Haste, director of property maintenance.

Gentoo is spending £250m on a five-year investment plan to modernise its existing homes. It announced last May that it will invest £44m in modernisation works for more than 4,000 homes across Sunderland in  2025/26.

Gentoo has also made promotions within its property and asset teams, with project manager, Rhiannon Brackenbury, project surveyor, Elle Graham-Cowans and customer experience coordinator, Tina Pilmore.
