Drew Smith, part of Galliford Try’s partnerships’ operation, is to build up to 100 new homes in Havant after sealing a contract with Homes England.

The housebuilder secured the £22m scheme (pictured) via the government’s housing delivery agency’s Delivery Partner Panel (DPP) 3 framework.

Southampton-based Drew Smith is to submit a reserved matters planning application to Havant borough council for 95 of the proposed homes, half of which will be offered on an affordable basis through a housing association.

The scheme, the second Drew Smith secured through the DPP3 framework, will feature a number of apartments as well as two and three-bedroom family homes.

It will be built on the site of Colt International’s old factory on New Lane in Havant, after the building products manufacturer moved to new premises at the nearby Kenwood Business Park last month.

Leanne Smith, Drew Smith’s business development director, said the group had already kicked off groundworks on the site.

“We are really pleased to be working closely with Homes England to unlock this brownfield site and transform it into 95 high-quality new homes on the development which will be known as “Colts Brook”, she added.
