Developer to build schemes outside London with Wavensmere Homes and Apsley House Capital

London-based housebuilder Galliard has formed a partnership with developers Wavensmere Homes and Apsley House Capital to build 850 homes across two schemes outside the capital.

The £300m joint venture will see the three firms develop the 438-home Belgrave Village scheme in Birmingham, with Galliard and Wavensmere also regenerating the HMS Ganges Naval facility in Shotley near Ipswich.

The Belgrave Village scheme has been designed by Chetwoods Architects for a 12-acre site in Balsall Heath, with start on site scheduled for the first quarter of next year, subject to signing of a Section 106 agreement.

The 60-acre Barrelsman’s Point project in Shotley, designed by Clague Architects, will provide 400 new homes while also restoring a number of designated Royal Navy heritage assets. The five-year scheme is also anticipated to start on site in the first quarter of next year.

Stephen Conway, executive chairman at Galliard Homes, said he was “delighted” to have entered into joint venture developments with Wavensmere Homes that will allow around £300 million of new development, also involving Galliard’s existing partner Apsley House Capital.

“The new developments will deliver high quality homes for hard working families in Birmingham and the London commuter region,” he said.
