Network Homes’ redevelopment in Park Royal near Central Middlesex Hospital will see four new residential buildings constructed

Housing association Network Homes has appointed London and South east housebuilder Durkan to build 158 affordable homes near Central Middlesex Hospital.

The redevelopment of the site in Park Royal, which straddles the London boroughs of Brent and Ealing, will include four new residential buildings ranging from six to 15 storeys.

Network Homes secured planning permission in March 2020, and Durkan’s appointment means work can begin this month.

How Network Homes’ redevelopment in Park Royal will look

Tim Carpenter, who was recently appointed as managing director for construction at Durkan, said: “This exciting project with Network Homes underscores Durkan’s strong start to 2022. The scheme will transform the current site and is a key part of a wider regeneration plan for Old Oak and Park Royal, an area set for major positive change and to become a transport hub where High Speed 2 will meet Crossrail.”

The new one-, two- and three-bed homes will be for affordable rent and shared ownership, he added.

A brick building that was part of the original Central Middlesex Hospital called The Old Refectory Building will be retained and fully refurbished. New communal green spaces will also be built as part of the development, including a large central square with trees, and three of the buildings will be created with wildlflower “bio roofs.”

David Gooch, executive director for development at Network Homes, said: “The development will deliver much needed affordable housing as well as employment opportunities in an area undergoing rapid change and regeneration.”

Gooch said the development will go towards the housing association’s strategic objective of building a minimum of 1,000 affordable homes by March 2023.
