How Renaker’s plans for Manchester’s Great Jackson Street regeneration area will look

Manchester-based developer Renaker has revealed plans ahead for a 2,388-home scheme, which includes a 71-storey tower block.

Five new residential towers would be created as part of the Great Jackson Street development, according to a pre-application consultation site launched by Renaker this week.

The 71-storey tower block on Plot D, which would be the highest outside of London, is proposed to include 642 flats, from one- to three-bedroom apartments.

A residential tower is planned for each corner of a square as part of the ‘Crown Street Phase 3’ of the scheme. There will be two 47-storey towers and two 51-storeys, which will also provide a mix of one-, two- and three-bed properties.

Renaker’s consultation site says: “The Crown Street Phase 3 and Plot D proposals will deliver five striking new residential towers, providing 2,388 new homes, complementing the cluster of tall buildings in the Great Jackson Street Development area, as well as significant public realm provision and enhancement and a range of commercial uses open to the public.”

It states the aim is to create a “vibrant, safe, secure and sustainable community”. Amenity and public space is planned as part of the development.

The team for the project includes SimpsonHaugh Architects as the architects, TPM Landscape as the landscape designers, DP Squared Ltd as the structural engineers and Deloitte as planning consultants. This team is supported by a larger team of consultants providing technical advice.

Renaker’s consultations on the plan launched on Monday and will run until 20 February. Currently the tallest building outside of London is the 64-storey South Tower in the nearby Deansgate Square development, also developed by Renaker and designed by SimpsonHaugh.
