Latimer, the development arm of Clarion Housing Group, was among the big winners at last night’s Building Awards, taking the Housebuilder and Housing Developer of the Year title at a ceremony attended by more than 900 industry figures at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

The award recognises Latimer’s contribution to housing delivery, with the organisation competing against some of the UK’s leading housebuilders and housing developers for the accolade.

The judges said:  “Latimer provides a fundamentally different and exciting model for master development. It has strong sustainability credentials, supported by ambitious net zero commitments and innovative low-carbon housing projects.”

The ceremony, which was run by Housing Today’s sister title Building, also recognised innovation and achievement in affordable housing delivery, with Kendall Kingscott’s work on the Hounslow Small Sites Programme, for the London Borough of Hounslow, taking Housing Project of the Year, in partnership with the Housing Forum.

The programme was recognised for its work bringing forward housing on smaller, often overlooked sites, demonstrating the potential for local authorities to make better use of available land to increase housing supply.

The two awards formed part of a wider celebration of achievement across the construction and built environment sectors, with 18 firms and individuals collecting 19 prizes.

Other winners included Kier, which was named Major Contractor of the Year, and Stanhope, which took Construction Client of the Year. Paul Brown of Sisk was named Chief Executive of the Year.

The awards ceremony was hosted by comedian Jason Manford.
