Winner will become president in October 2027
The election for vice-president of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) is now underway.

The CIH has announced five candidates are in the running this year.
They are: Gavin Smith, former chair of CIH Scotland and service manager for housing access and homelessness at Fife Council; Katrina Dearden, a tenant of Torus; Lee Buss-Blair, director of operations at Riverside Care & Support; Nic Blass, campaign director at Stop Social Housing Stigma and Richard Kennedy, co-founder of social enterprise Cornerstone Place.
The winner will become vice-president in October 2026 and then, by convention, will become president for a year the following October. They will succeed Evie Copland, who will become president in October once current president Julie Haydon’s term ends.
CIH members can vote here by entering their unique voter code. Voting closes at 11.59pm on Monday 13 July.
