Andrew Wagstaff joins the Scottish firm from property developer Dandara

Andrew Wagstaff - Managing Director at CALA Homes Thames

Cala Homes, the Edinburgh-based housebuilder, has appointed Andrew Wagstaff as the firm’s new managing director of its Thames region.

Wagstaff (pictured) replaces Nick Twine, who has stepped up to become Cala Homes’ regional chairman, and joins the firm from property developer Dandara, where he was managing director of its South-east subsidiaries.

Cala’s Thames operation has 10 schemes underway including building homes at Wellesley in Aldershot and Kings Barton and Winchester.

Wagstaff said the division planned to increase the number of units it was working on from 299 last year to more than 400 in the coming years.

“I’m delighted to take over the reins at this point and continue to build on the momentum started by my predecessor,” he added.

The group, which is owned by Legal & General, posted turnover of £1.2bn for the 18 months to the end of 2018 and reported a pre-tax profit before exceptionals of £97m for the period.

Last month Cala received planning permission to turn a C-listed building that once housed the Royal Blind School in Craigmillar Park in the south-east of the Scottish capital into a 49-home residential scheme.
