Development is latest approval for Ebbsfleet Garden City on the banks of the Thames

Bellway has been given the green light for plans to build a 532-home development at Ebbsfleet Garden City in the Thames estuary.

The Kent scheme, which will be built on 12ha of former industrial land on the banks of the Thames, was submitted to Ebbsfleet Development Corporation in July and approved shortly before Christmas.

The BPTW-designed scheme, known as Harbour Village, consists mostly of terraced houses leading towards a series of five- to seven-storey apartment blocks on the riverside, with 30% of the one to four-bed homes affordable.

Also included in the scheme is a new sports pitch for a local school, a riverside promenade and a large park to the east of the site.

The four-phase development is due to start on site later this year with Bellway acting as main contractor.

The green light for Harbour Village follows the start of construction in early December of a 281-home scheme at Ebbsfleet Garden City for Countryside and Clarion Housing Group.
