Southern-based housing association steps up development spend as it aims to become ‘top five’ housing association
Abri Group has increased its completions by 43%.

The provider, which operates across the south coast said in an unaudited update today that it built 1,123 homes in 2025/26.
This is up from the 788 it completed the previous year and is in excess of its 1,000 home target for the year.
The 51,000-home group, which operates across the south of England, invested £350m in new homes, up from £262m the previous year.
It said: “To fund developments we’ve utilised existing cash, the flexibility of existing revolving credit facilities and grants from Homes England as part of our strategic partnership.”
The update comes weeks after Abri announced an ambition to build 20,000 homes over the next decade and become a “top five” housing association provider. The figure is double the 10,000 target it had previously set for the 10 years to 2030. The group said it intends to use a variety of funding models including equity investment to achieve its goal.
Rose Bean, chief investment officer, said: “In what continues to be a challenging market, we’re extremely proud to have delivered an Abri record of 1,123 new homes in a single year, making a strong start to the goals set out in our new strategy.”
Abri also said its turnover for the year to 31 March was £447m, up on the £377m it reported last year. Its income from shared ownership first tranche sales rose by £7m. The 2025/26 figures are the first to incorporate a full year’s results from Octavia Housing which joined the group in December 2024.
Its operating surplus rose 45%, from £85m to £123m, while its pre-tax surplus excluding gifts rose from £30m to £51m. The group also disposed of a number of existing homes, generating a surplus of £33m.
The group spent £135m on improving existing homes, up slightly on the £130m it invested the previous year.
Abri is currently the 22nd largest housing association in the UK when it comes to turnover, according to Housing Today’s 50 Largest Housing Associations list.
Abri’s full, audited accounts will be published later in the summer or Autumn.
