From the departure of Rayner and the rise of Reform, to boosting skills, new funding models and decent homes, attendees at this year’s Housing Community Summit were not short of topics to talk about. Here are the key talking points from Liverpool
The Housing Community Summit returned to Liverpool for its second year this week.
The conference once again brought together the National Housing Federation and the Chartered Institute of Housing for a unified discussion of sector challenges, with thousands of housing professionals headed to the city’s Arena and Convention Centre at King’s Dock for the occasion.
A month ago, you might have expected the mood at such an event to be jubilant, coming fresh off the back of a spending review that saw the sector tick off nearly all of its wishlist. But a sluggish economy and the sudden departure of a well-liked housing secretary in Angela Rayner cast a shadow over the mood over the two-day conference.
Nonetheless, there was plenty of buzz across the panels, roundtables, and exhibitors, neatly divided into ‘housing in focus’ and ‘housing in practice’ sessions. Here are Housing Today’s key takeaways and talking points.
