Homes England and the Greater London Authority have published their prospectuses for the £39bn Social and Afffordable Homes Programme. Daniel Gayne summarises the key points
The government and its delivery partners, Homes England and the Greater London Authority, has set out the details of its £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme, ahead of the opening of bidding in February.
In his ministerial foreword to the guidance, housing minister Matthew Pennycook said that the government had “retained the best parts of previous programmes, while incorporating new design elements to maximise delivery; allow regional leaders to shape and guide delivery in their areas; and ensure providers deliver the types of homes the country needs”.
A number of changes have been made which the government says providers have described as “key to effective delivery”. These include an updated approach to enable more estate regeneration, flexibility on grant rates to enable delivery of more expensive housing types, and a new portfolio approach to bidding to help smaller providers.
Housing Today summarises the changes below.
