The first phase of Awaab’s Law comes into effect from next week, but what have social landlords been doing to prepare? Alex Funk speaks to experts and providers to find out
In just a few days, phase one of Awaab’s Law will come into effect almost five years after two-year-old Awaab Ishak died from prolonged damp and mould exposure in a social home.
From 27 October, landlords will have to to address all emergency hazards, including damp and mould hazards that present a significant risk of harm to tenants to fixed timeframes.
Implementing the new legislation to its full capacity will require all corners of the housing sector to pull together. Housing Today spoke to some members of the industry to see if it is up to the challenge.
