Membership body says policy in its current form reduces councils’ appetite to develop
The Housing Forum has called for measures to reform the Right to Buy, including ending eligibility for those in new build homes and reducing the discounts to 20% of the property value.
The membership body, in a report out this week, pointed to figures showing 113,000 council homes have been sold under the policy in the last 10 years, while the number of households in temporary accommodation has doubled to 100,000 over the same period.
