Much of England’s population already lives in areas with devolved powers and many more are moving towards further devolved powers. Local government reform is primarily intended to achieve economic growth, improved public services and stronger local democracy by creating simpler, more efficient and locally accountable government structures. For those working to support the delivery of much needed new homes, this joined-up decision-making will hopefully be a positive direction of travel.
