Why the North-west is a promising region for developers

Deborah-Aplin-2

Housing delivery statistics can be hard to follow at times but the latest data shows some interesting trends, says Deborah Aplin

What is happening with the government’s housing delivery target of 300,000 homes a year? If we look at official quarterly housing completions and start on site figures, is there a trend on who is building and where, and what does this tell us?

As we are all aware the government is sticking to its 300,000 homes a year target, however, even before covid this was a very tall order. The official figures for the number of dwellings completed in year 2017/18 are 160,910 and in year 2019/20 175,250, an increase of 3.4% in a pandemic year.
