The sector faces a challenge in finding staff who can answer technical questions about assets while also asking what decisions mean for residents, argues Mark Moore

The housing sector has transformed how it understands buildings, but I’m not convinced we’ve changed how we think about the people responsible for managing them.

Over the past decade, we’ve invested in technical competence, building safety and compliance and we now know more about our homes than ever before. We know how they’re built, how they perform, where risks lie and where investment is needed. Our next challenge is to make better use of the information we have – and that means broadening our understanding of what makes a great property professional.
