The government’s long-awaited heat and buildings strategy is about to be launched.

This is a huge moment for government climate emergency policy and the race to zero, as the gas that heats our homes accounts for around 17.5% of the UK’s carbon emissions.

Much of what is needed in the strategy has been heavily trailed. The politics, though, are fraught.
