A new tax intended to raise £3.4bn for remediation comes into force in October. Michael Weissman explains what the sector must do to prepare.
The Building Safety Levy comes into force on 1 October 2026 and will apply to certain developments that enter the building control process from that date onwards. Because there is no transition period, housebuilders and developers should prepare now to understand how the levy will affect their projects, finances and delivery programmes.
