We need a new ‘fit for purpose’ procurement process

Procurement is often too process-driven and costly, its time for a new approach, argues Richard Jones

With the government now beginning to put its focus on how we can benefit from the freedom and flexibility that was promised from Brexit, it may be that a renewed focus on public procurement may reap some unexpected benefits.

There can be no argument that a robust governance process is required for procurement in order to ensure that there is no opportunity for mischief or corruption, however, has the balance gone too far down this process route to the detriment of the ultimate outcome?
