New requirements confirmed last month are a positive opportunity for the housebuilding sector, writes David Thomas
It’s more than a month since the publication of the government’s long-awaited Future Homes Standard (FHS) and we are all now getting to grips with it.
Under the FHS, all new homes built from March 2027 (with a year transition) must produce 75–80% fewer carbon emissions. This will be achieved through a ‘fabric first’ approach and by making renewable energy systems the default.
