Rent convergence is essential for decent homes

Ahead of Wednesday’s Budget, Elly Hoult makes the case for rent convergence with a £3 uplift

Rent convergence is about much more than the money residents pay to rent their home each month. It’s about ensuring stability for not-for-profit providers and fairness for residents.

If implemented properly, rent convergence means we can continue managing, maintaining, and improving residents’ homes, as well as providing support and services in local communities. It will also help us build new homes where capacity allows. In short, it’s essential not only for decency today, but how we deliver for residents in the future.
