When government sets social housing policy, the consequences are felt most directly by residents. Rent convergence may appear to be a technical adjustment, but in practice it affects affordability, household budgets, and trust in the system. Yet residents’ views feel underrepresented with most sector bodies and landlords calling for £2 or £3 a week increases.
