UKRI Transforming Construction is half way through its four year innovation programme. Is this a good time to revisit its funding priorities?

Construction, like so many other industries, has been stopped in its tracks by covid-19 over the last few months. As we approach the half way mark of the four-year UKRI Transforming Construction (TC) programme, such has been the impact of the pandemic it begs the question: should we go back to the drawing board and rethink the proposed changes to the industry, and set out on a new path?

The Construction Sector Deal, and the TC programme established to implement it, is built on many years considering opportunities to improve the sector and how it could better fulfil the needs of society.
