We would like to see the grant rates reflect inflation as schemes are becoming unviable.
The delays with obtaining planning is still a major barrier to development progress.
Addressing the delays would speed up the process so that we can build homes much more quickly. Greater access to publicly held land for affordable housing and reducing the price to reflect the social value would also help.
This is a very challenging and uncertain time, particularly in relation to costs, inflation and supply.
We need to think differently, partnership opportunities that enable small and medium size contractors to be viable will be crucial to the success of future delivery.
